In his recent work, Loidys Carnero (La Havana, 1982) investigates design and architecture from the standpoint of his personal experience as a foreigner. In connecting his artistic practice (Do-It-Yourself furniture pieces made out of Dutch DIY-books) with the idea of “integration”, he upgrades his personal position to a cultural and social level that actualizes the situation of immigrants in Europe nowadays without morality. Loidys Carnero passion for pragmatism, craftsmanship, tutorials, manuals and instructions has become a critical and creative statement.
